Allow setting exam type to "by invitation only"
Allow setting exam type to "by invitation only" and enforce it. This will allow a VE team to keep testing local to them and not All US. Maybe even keeping a "waiting list" on hamstudy for VE's to use in exam tools.

Richard Bateman AdminHow do you see this working? I can hide the link, but that ins't a full "enforcement". Are you thinking a password? Confirmation required before telling them they have joined? What would you consider "ideal"?

Barrynot being able to register until a link is provided to the candidate to do so if that is chosen when setting up the exam details.

CJA better way to do this may be to allow a session to be flagged as "unlisted". That way it will not show up on the public page at all and registration will only be available to those who are given the direct link.

Ted RI think a hidden link is an easy way to get that started.

Richard Bateman AdminAs an update, the hidden link version of this has been deployed to production. The plan for doing this "for real" is to have a mode where in order to join you need to use a one-use link from an invite email; the VEs would then go into the session in the examtools interface, click "invite", and enter the name and / or email of the person to invite. I think this is the "correct" way to do it, but it will take some time.

Nick AA0NMThis feature would be useful near exam question pool changes - especially the Extra. Trying to provide a session primarily for those wanting to upgrade prior to the July 1 change is a challenge right now as everything I post fills up very quickly, even with 5-6 back to back in person sessions with 8-10 people in.

Neil K6NCXI'd like to see it, but it wouldn't be my top priority.

Heather KM6ZQBI would like to display the session, but be able to suppress the register button. Would prefer to send private link for folks to register. I can see using this feature for billing purposes. The applicant can be directed to another site for payment. Once paid, they will be sent the registration link.

Heather KM6ZQBLast night, hid session on HamStudy and added two slots. Sent private link to two applicants and one applicant signed up. The other waited too long and someone else registered. I needed to add another slot and tell him to try again. The coordination is key to making it work. I probably try the new button to add someone next time! :) This is not a complaint as the hidden session works as it should. :)

Norm GoodkinInteresting comment about providing exams near pool changes... we tried to do that and didn't get anywhere near the number of Generals looking to upgrade - our sessions did not hit max. But as soon as the pool changed, we got a burst of registrations. Using a one-time link seems heavy handed and unnecessary. We just unlist the session and email a link - we've been doing this for months without issue.

Ben Franske - K0BENI'll make the suggestion to have a system to limit some sessions to registering applicants by API (I'm going to get a reputation as the API guy aren't I?). That would allow for either individual sing-use links for applicants to be generated and emailed out, a short registration token code sent to applicants, payment to be collected before an applicant is registered, etc. if it's desired for a particular session.

Richard Bateman AdminThis is as done as it's going to get in the near future. We may consider a more targetted feature in the future, but the "don't display on hamstudy" fills this need for now.
