If an examinee specifies Technician, require a call sign
ExamTools generates an MD record if the examinee specifies a license class (Technician) but doesn't include a call sign. The EBF record generated is MD, with no call sign, and that's not valid. It should require that the examinee enter "None" - the correct record type for no license is NE.

Richard Bateman AdminThe reason that it does this is because it is entirely possible for someone to be a Technician without having a callsign if they have a pending application; we will need to figure out the correct flow for this in regards to the EBF file, but requiring them to have a callsign before taking a test won't work because it would make it impossible to test again before your license is issued.

Cory NQ1EThis is where it becomes important to track element credit separately from existing license class.

n2ygkOn the ARRL/VEC candidate roster, we enter a "C" for element credit. So maybe a means to similar show that credit: C/P/F/(nothing) being the 4 possible values.

Richard Bateman AdminElement credit *is* tracked separately in the system, but having that spelled out in that much detail for registration is far more likely to confuse them than anything else.
We'll come up with a good solution, just going to fix other things first. -

Norm GoodkinSaying your license class if you passed the Tech but don't have a call sign is wrong. If you don't have a call sign, you don't have a license.

Allan BatteigerVEC's are required to give Element credit when present with a CSCE. If they have a CSCE with element 2 credit they have passed all the requirements for a Technician License. The fact that a VEC took weeks to process the exam session, does not negate the fact the person earned a Technician License. In theory ( I know there are some Gentlemen agreements not to do this) another VEC could issue the Technician license based on the CSCE.

Norm Goodkin K6YXH GLAARG VEThe question on ET registration is, "License Class" and that is NONE until there's actually a license. Interpreting passing Element 2 as actually having a Technician license is inconsistent with how EBF treats an MD vs NE. ET should generate an NE record if there's no call sign. My intent was to avoid having an EBF record with MD when there's no call sign - that's an error condition in EBF.
